Jakob Proyer is a multidisciplinary artist educated at the Rietveld Academy, who has worked in the fields of the arts, performance and theater for the past 15 years. His artistic interests focus especially on the experiences a work enables, on the impact of the location and the environment for a work and on the possibilities of engagement by the audience. An interdisciplinary and horizontal approach has led to several years of work with the theater collectives Warner & Consorten and AARDLEK. Their unusual performances for unexpected spaces have been shown on streets, squares, odd locations and festivals worldwide, with settings ranging from intimate one on one experiments to large outdoor shows.
Other artistic collaborations include choreographies for public space, site specific contemporary music, experimental radio broadcasting and work as a performer and production manager.
Sound, space and improvisation remain key elements to most of his work.
