Sharon Wesseling (1994) – (nominated for the Innovation Award for the Dutch Dance Festival Maastricht 2025) is a choreographer, dancer, and teacher. Despite suffering permanent hearing damage from a chronic middle ear infection and fourteen hearing surgeries at a young age, she became world champion with her hip-hop team. In 2019, she graduated as a performing dancer from Fontys University of the Arts in Tilburg, after which she developed her skills as a choreographer at the talent development organization Via Zuid.
In 2022, she founded the dance company 20Hertz together with music producer and business manager Floris Mentink. By integrating elements of sign language into dance, emphasizing rhythm and expression, and adding low, tactile musical frequencies, 20Hertz creates unique dance performances that are also accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing: both as dancers and as audience members.
Sharon previously collaborated with Futurists during the Fish Dance research residency.
